Project description:
Mexico will conduct a comprehensive barrier assessment on each of the: Ministry of National Defence (Mexican Army and Airforce); Ministry of the Navy, and Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection using the DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance Measuring Opportunities for Women in Peace Operations (MOWIP) Barrier Assessment Methodology. The ultimate goal of the project is to increase the meaningful deployment of uniformed women to United Nations peace operations. By conducting a MOWIP assessment, the project aims to achieve the following outcomes:
- identify the barriers that hinder the increased participation of uniformed women in peace operations across the ten issue areas outlined in the MOWIP methodology;
- provide a baseline from which to measure progress in participation of uniformed women in peace operations;
- allow participation in the Elsie Initiative Fund in future programming rounds; and
- enable better strategic, operational, and tactical planning with the aim of increasing the meaningful participation of uniformed women in peace operations.
