The Elsie Initiative Fund (EIF) embarked on its fundraising efforts in 2019 securing $14.2M in contributions and $5.3M in pledges from four Member States.
In 2020, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the EIF continued its successful fundraising momentum. It raised an additional $5.8M in new contributions from three Member States, which included support from two existing donors, Canada and the UK, and a new contributor, Australia. This brought the total funds, including contributions, commitments, and pledges, to $26.5M by the end of 2020, marking a significant stride towards the EIF’s initial operating target of $40M.
