Keeping track of the numbers of uniformed women deployed on United Nations peace operations is important for accountability. In line with the commitment to gender equality, the United Nations Department of Peace Operations (DPO) Uniformed Gender Parity Strategy 2018-20281 (UGPS) set annual targets for women in uniformed components. Establishing a base line against which to measure progress is essential. Provision of and access to accurate baseline data that is sex – disaggregated enables the systematic and structured analysis of trends and progress to gender parity.

The Elsie Initiative Fund provides a snapshot of progress made on the deployment of women in the military and police contingents in United Nations peace operations according to the last update of the Peace Security Data Hub. The dashboard provides indicators that enable users to rank, filter, look for specific numbers and percentages, take a snapshot with fresh data of a contributing country or a specific mission, identify and find out personal categories.
